EMprint Press was started by Emily Johnson in 2004 in Berkeley, California. In the summer of 2006, the presses were packed into a nifty enclosed trailer and traveled 1500 miles to a ranch in the Sandhills of South Dakota, where the trailer now serves as a cozy studio. The Fall of 2008 brought another big change, when Emily started another studio in Portland, Oregon. She now splits her time between the two locations, letting the seasons and her work demands determine the flow of her gypsy life. While back on the ranch she is also kept busy helping with the family vinegary - George Paul Vinegars.
